Avenue des Champs-Elysées - Paris

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the most famous avenue in the world, 2 km long and 70 meters wide. It's a marvellous place for walking (day and night).

The name is French for Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed dead in Greek mythology.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is known in France as La plus belle avenue du monde "The most beautiful avenue in the world" . it’s one of Paris best districts for shopping and going out with hundreds of fashion stores, movie theaters and restaurants animate the Champs Elysees day and night.

You can admire the perspective of from Arc de Triomphe to Concorde Square.

Raised over command of Napoleon Ier, the Arch of Triumph dominates the Avenue of the Champs-Elysées. Its construction began in 1806 and ended in 1836, 15 years after the Napoleon's death.

It is possible to reach the roof of the monument. The perspective of The Louvre - Concorde Square - Grand Arch of Defense is superb. It's one of the most beautifull panorama of Paris.

The site on which the monument stands is called the Place de l'étoile, because of the multicolored star built into the pavement of the roundabout.

The arch is 50 meters high, 45 meters wide, and 22 meters thick and is decorated with low relieves which evoke the battles of the French first Republic and Empire periods (1789-1815). Under the arch, the Unknown Soldier Tomb can be found (a soldier of the First World War).

After a five-year expansion project, the Beaux Arts-style Museum, Petit Palais Musée des Beaux Arts de la Ville de Paris reopened its doors in 2005.

Like a miniature Louvre (without the Louvre’s crowds), the museum houses a diverse collection, spanning ancient Grecian urns, medieval panel paintings, Rembrandt’s “Self-Portrait in Oriental Attire,” Louis XV-era furniture, French Impressionism, the symbolist works of Odilon Redon and Art Nouveau ceramics.
The space also holds an eye-popping collection of paintings from Picasso, Matisse, Modigliani, Cézanne, Renoir, André Derain and others.

The Grand Palais (Great Palace), is a large historic site, exhibition hall and museum complex located at the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France. Construction of the Grand Palais began in 1897.

The Grand Palais, star of the Universal Exhibition of 1900, has reopened its doors in the heart of Paris beautifully restored, after twelve years of closure and four works, illuminated with natural light and large the most beautiful stained glass in the world. Renovations included repair of the metal framework, replacement of the glass, and the repairing and recovering of the roof.

The Grand Palais is currently the largest existing ironwork and glass structure in the world.

The Grand Palais has a major police station in the basement which helps protect the exhibits on show in the Galeries nationales du Grand Palais, and particularly the picture exhibition "Salons" as the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, Salon d'Automne and Salon Comparaisons. The building's west wing also contains a science museum, the Palais de la Découverte.

For more than 100 years, the Grand Palais has been a public exhibition hall and host to a variety of grand events. Though the main gallery is now a designated site for displaying contemporary art, you’ll see everything here from antique car shows to fashion extravaganzas from some of Paris’s top designers.

There are actually three different areas in the Grand Palais, each with a different entrance: the Palais de la Découverte (a science museum) is at the Avenue Franklin Roosevelt, the Galeries National du Grand Palais (an exposition hall) has an entrance at the Clémenceau Square and the entrance to the Nef du Grand Palais (an event hall) is at the Avenue Winston Churchill (opposite the Petit Palais). The couture fashion house Chanel annually hosts many of its fashion shows here, setting up elaborate and expensive surroundings for its models and hosts.

The Concorde Square is the most beautiful place of Paris . With a surface of 84.000 square meters , the place offers a superb sight of the avenue of the Champs-Elysées in all its length and the Arch of Triumph, on a side, the Louvre and Gardens of Tuileries , on the other side.

Twin buildings with the fine colonnades were built on the side of the place, the Hotel of the Navy , sits of the State Major of the French Navy, and the Hotel of Crillon , one of the most luxurious and sought hotels.

It is in this place that was signed on February 6, 1778 the Treaty of Friendships and Exchanges between King , Louis XVI and the 13 States Independents of America . Benjamin Franklin counted among the signatories representing the United States...

Today at the place even where the King Louis XVI was guillotined , is an obelisk offered by the Egyptians.Where many people came to see falling down the heads formerly, come much there today to admire the view of the Champs-Elysées...

The Guimet Museum of Asian Arts is one of the best and most comprehensive in the world in his specialty and has undergone a major renovation and expansion, which cost 53 million euros, partly funded by patrons of Korea and Japan.

The new center has a fund of 45,000 jewelry, paintings, religious objects, sculptures, tapestries, lacquer, tombstones, pottery and drawings of the eighteenth century BC to the eighteenth century.
Of the big funds, the sample has a 3,500 pieces. The funds have been substantially enriched recently by several major acquisitions, new donations and a vast campaign of restoration and renovation of elements never previously exposed.

It should be noted that a key part of the museum's renovation has involved the relocation of materials arranged according to cultural criteria.
The spaces have been rebalanced dedicated to different countries of the region such as Japan and especially Korea, a country of which the museum has very valuable collections. The presence of fine paintings from China, Korea and Japan, almost entirely absent prior to the remodeling helps to provide a more coherent image of the museum.

Built on the occasion of the International Exhibition of 1937, the Museum of Modern Art was officially opened in 1961.

To a large extent, it owes its specifically Parisian aspect to the generosity of its donors including Dr Girardin (1953) and Mathilde Amos (1955), Berthe Reysz (1972) Germaine Henry and Robert Thomas (1976-1988) and artists Robert Delaunay, Jean Fautrier and Christian Boltanski.
The museum has major collections of works by Georges Rouault, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Raoul Dufy, Marcel Gromaire and several monumental paintings notably two of the three Henri Matisse triptychs of La Danse (1931-33) and La Fée Electricité (1937) by Raoul Dufy.

Temporary exhibitions form a major part of the museum's activity. Its "historical" program is alternated with monographic exhibitions devoted to great figures of the French or European scene and major European panoramic events combining the historical and contemporary.

The ARC (workshop for research and creativity) is a highly informative source on national and international current events, organising monographic exhibitions and theme-based events on the most up-to-date trends in contemporary art in France and abroad.

The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris is organising an exhibition of the sculptures of Georg Baselitz . This retrospective interpretation of one facet of the German artist – initially a painter and engraver – will include almost his entire sculptural output, covering a period of more than thirty years.

Few of these works have been shown in France. Now recognised as a part of his oeuvre in its own right, Baselitz's sculpture gradually became more and more monumental in scale.

Palais de Tokyo - Paris

The Palais de Tokyo, an art deco building that dates from 1937, reopened in 2001 after new interior design by french architects Anne Lacaton & Jean-Philippe Vassal who selected rough and ready style (concrete floor, wall and roof).

Today the most creative and fun museum in Paris, the olny one to be open till midnight. The Palais de Tokyo, which is right next door to the Musée d'Art Moderne at the Trocadero, has opened as a showcase for contemporary art. The idea is to have no permanent collections, but to let experimental artists have somewhere in central Paris to express themselves, hence an opening full of “installation” and “interactive” art.

There is no permanent collection; instead, dynamic temporary exhibits spread over a large, open space that's reminiscent of a construction site, with a trailer for a ticket booth.

We appreciate the self- service restaurant (great when it’s sunny you can have a meal outside the building), Tokyo Eat the inside restaurant whit great food, the Library – one of the best concerning modern art in Paris...

The Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine

The Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine is a new kind of cultural institution and the biggest architectural centre in the world.

It presents architecture from the 12th century to the current day in an exceptional 23,000m² space.

The Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine opened in 2007 is the latest museum of Paris after the Quai Branly Museum. Next to the Palais de Tokyo and the Eiffel Tower.
