Normandy Private Day Trip from Paris Including Calvados Tasting
Explore the French region of Normandy on a day trip from Paris with a private guide and driver. You'll take a walking tour of Rouen, the city where Joan of Arc was burned alive and Claude Monet painted the Gothic cathedral. Then check out the coastal town of Honfleur, where the early days of the Impressionist movement were formed, before visiting Deauville, a seaside resort. On the way back to Paris, stop at a local Calvados distillery to taste the regional specialty—apple brandy and cider.
Your day trip starts with hotel pickup in Paris by private vehicle for the 2-hour drive to Rouen, your first stop and the capital of the Normandy region.
With your private guide, take a walking tour of this medieval town on the River Seine to see its major sights, including the Gothic cathedral painted by Claude Monet and the Place du Marché, the square where Joan of Arc was executed in 1431. Then continue to the port town of Honfleur, where your guide will suggest a snack or seafood restaurant on the harbor for lunch (own expense). Once again, follow in the footsteps of Monet, who did some of his early work here, painting the sand beaches and cliffs of Normandy with fellow artists like Eugène Boudin and Johan Jongkind.
Then head to the seaside resort of Deauville to admire its lovely beaches before your final stop at a Calvados distillery, where you'll learn about and taste the local apple brandy, a Normandy specialty. Take a private tour of the distillery to see barrels of cider and Calvados.
Your day trip ends with the return drive to Paris for hotel drop-off.
