Skip the hassle of car rentals and train schedules and instead enjoy comfortable round-trip coach transport from Paris to Mont St-Michel. Board an air-conditioned coach in central Paris in the morning, and then sit back and relax on the long drive northwest through the lovely Normandy countryside.

Perched on a rocky island just off the Normandy coast is the Benedictine abbey of Mont St-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most iconic attractions in France. When you arrive, your driver will provide you with an information handout about the sights before leaving you to explore independently for four hours.

Stroll to the top of the hilly village and travel back in time as you enter the fascinating famous Benedictine abbey to explore independently. A major cultural and pilgrimage center during the Middle Ages, the abbey was founded in the 8th century, when Aubert, the bishop of Avranches, was visited by the Archangel Michael in a dream — or so the legend says. Crowning the abbey is a gilded copper statue of Michael slaying a dragon, an icon that is said to represent the triumph of good over evil.

Walk around at your leisure, viewing the abbey’s remarkable refectory and cloister, and notice how the ramparts have been added to support the Gothic monastery over the centuries. Having explored the abbey, browse the surrounding shops and museums and perhaps walk to the top of the village to witness the attraction's most famous feature: the extreme tides. Mont St-Michel sits amid a vast bay, surrounded by bare sand for miles at low tide. At high tide, the sea rushes in from the Atlantic and surrounds the whole island!

At the prearranged time, head to the designated meeting point and board your coach for the relaxing drive back to Paris.
