Guerlain - Paris

Guerlain is Paris’ most famous parfumerie, and its shop, dating from 1912, is one of the most beautiful in the city. With its shimmering mirror and marble Art Deco interior, it’s a reminder of the former glory of the Champs-Élysées.

Guerlain is one of the most influential and long-standing perfumeries in the world, in business for almost two centuries.

Guerlain perfumes are often said to be inspired by sugary sweets, since there are often notes of vanilla and amber in the house's fragrances. Like most grand perfume lines, Guerlain has created a number of light, summery scents such as Shalimar Light in 2003, and heavier, dusky perfumes like L'heure Bleu, composed in 1912.

Of the perfumery's 300-plus fragrances, many are named after places and people both real and fictional, such as Mitsuoko, named after the protagonist in Claude Farrere's novel, "La Bataille," and Shalimar, inspired by the famous gardens in Lahore, Pakistan.

Even if you don't intend to buy something, just enter the Guerlain shop. It's a jewel of the old grandeur of Paris.

I have been wearing Shalimar for over 25 years and in the last few months bought 2 bottles at separate airport duty free shops. I opened the first bottle and thought it was old and had spoiled so I opened the second to discover the same stink! I'm going to write to the company and ask for my money back. i guess it's time to look for a new scent at a company that wont change what's not broken. What a disapointment...

Dear makers of Shalimar,
I found a place on the internet to purchase my Shalimar. This would save me going to the store and it would be delivered to my home. it would also be a savings from the store price. When the item came to my home, it wasn't Shalimar. The scent was not even close to Shalimar, which I have loved for years. When I emailed the company about the difference in the scent, the girl Natazia emailed a return, stating the Guerlain people changed the packaging and they changed the scent too. Now, I couldn't believe that. When you have a winner, like Shalimar, why mess with it, don't change a thing. I called my credit card, and put in a dispute. They are handling it. I just wanted you to know what is company is doing to mess up your reputation. Very Concerned buyer, and hate to see this kind of thing happen.
