My friend would like to travel from Manchester to CDG and then catch the train direct to either Rennes, Anger or Nantes. This will be 2nd week in May. Is it a comfortable walking distance or would the shuttle be better as she has recently had a knee replacement, but will only have the one small bag to carry. Many thanks, David.

it's small but at least shows you the relationships, walking around the hubs of 2a-f is fine but you need to take a shuttle (allow 15 min, wait and transfer) to get to 2g (I know it's not even on the map). other thing is most likely you will end up ground side so have to pass thru security again.

On a recent trip to Hungary we had to change planes at Paris. We were travelling with Air France and had to transfer to a Budapest Flight again with Air France.
We followed the signs and walked / ran to the gate. We took over 2 hours and still missed our flight. We waited 6 hrs for the next flight.
Returning from Budapest we had 1 1/2 hrs to our connecting flight but as our flight was 20 minutes late when the plane stopped at Paris the attendants let us and about 10 other passengers off the plane first. Two security guards took us in a van and then we had to walk miles. The plane ended up waiting for us and left about 30 minutes late. I will never go anywhere near Paris airport again. It spoilt what could have been a pleasant trip. My advice to people transferring flights leave at least 3 hours to transfer in Paris and good luck.

The problem arises for people CHANGING PLANES at CDG. You MUST take airport transportation because otherwise you will need to go through security again. Anyway, you do NOT have a choice. I, as a lot of others as I understand from the comments abov, try to avoid CDG but sometimes you have to.

I will definitely NOT recommend CDG as a transit airport - it was a terrible experience!

1. I was flying October 13th with AF1307 DUS-CDG to take the FI543 CDG-KEF. I spent almost TWO HOURS in transport between terminals! That included THREE BUSES and two passport inspections. YES I took the right way but it was a bit confusing. Everyone was shouting and one American tourist on the edge of having a nervous breakdown running between airport personal asking for help to find the way to his American Airlines flight.

2. My wife came the day after October 14th from PULKOVO St. Petersburg to CDG with Air France to take the FI543 CDG-KEF. She spent TWO HOURS in transport between terminals! That included THREE BUSES and THREE passport inspections.

Marie- I did this transfer 16 Oct 12 (yesterday) I had a 2 hour layover and would have missed my flight had they not held the plane for all the people attempting to get through security. Getting from 2F to 2E was maybe a 10 minute walk and not well signed due to construction, but if you ask anyone they will gladly point the way. My problem was the line for passport control went all the way into the terminal past the baggage check. If you have an EU passport the wait isn't as bad but I was there well over an hour during their morning rush. The security check wait/process was maybe another 20 minutes, and then once I was in Terminal 2E I had to take a tram to Subterminal M (another 10 minutes) and then run/walk to gate 46 (another 5 minutes). I arrived a few minutes after the departure time and saw they were barely boarding the aircraft, and we waited another 30 minutes for everyone else to arrive. I think the trick is have an AirFrance employee scan your boarding pass as you enter the huge passport check line. They will then know you are in the terminal and just trying to get through all the lines, since the airline has no control over security delays.

I would like to know how to go from CDG airport, terminal 1 to terminal 2G. This is a first trip for me in Europe and France. I have experience in travelling in USA.
I am not quit familiar with French system at airport. The most important, I have only 1h 50 min to check in at Terminal 2G from Terminal 1 (arrive at 6h50 and check in at 8h40.

CDG airport is truly a hell hole. Worst designed airport imaginable, rudest airport workers, even if you speak French. Terminal 2 is not really one terminal, it's seven terminals, all poorly connected by a bus that takes 20 minutes to complete its circular tour. If your connecting flight is at the wrong end of the alphabet, good luck. And better luck still at the passport control... last month I waited in line with 500 people all being processed through two booths. It took 45 minutes and the security control another 30. I was the last person aboard my Delta flight to Atlanta.

Jesus, people, how stupid can you get???
It just takes some reading and a peek at the map. You only need to take the bus if you are either old, or with tons of luggage. Wlaking between the adjacennt terminals takes no more than 10 mins!
Transfer from terminals 1 and 3 is via shuttle, either train or bus, and it says so everywhere. Just learn to read for Christ's sake.

Transfer between terminals 1, 2 and 3 is via CDGVAL. It is automated and takes 8 minutes to go through all terminals in this order: Terminal 1, Terminal 3, Terminal 2.
CDGVAL at Terminal 1 is on the CDGVAL level.
CDGVAL at Terminal 2 is between Terminals 2CD and 2EF.
CDGVAL at Termnial 3 is at the train station RER B.

Walking from Terminal 2AB to 2CD is 4 minutes. From 2CD to 2EF is 8 minutes. There is a shuttle bus that runs through Terminal 2 in this order:
2A -> 2C -> 2E -> 2F -> 2D -> 2B

For example, about 1 hour from landing at Terminal 2F to get on the plane at Terminal 2E. One also needs to take a shuttle bus to transfer. This may be insufficient time to catch the second plane. By the way, I missed my flight once already at similar circumstances.

Travelling last year between 2E (gate 45) to 2E (gate 75) took almost two hours and I passed through 6 passport/security controls. Just made the flight to Glasgow. So be prepared! There is little or no signage or staff who might give direction. Got to be one of the worlds worst airports.

In general Air France recommends 2-3h connection time at CDG at all its flights, with a minimum connection time of 1h. For example, 2E and 2F, although being the 2 Terminal, are two different islands which requieres a long walk and security control. If you´re lucky, your plane arrives on time, few people in front of security control and you don´t carry much luggage to run along the gates, it is reasonalbe you make it, however if obstacles appear....

All signs at the airport are in English and French and many employees at the airport speak English, so indications are clear.

We recommend not too tight flight schedules, just to be on the safe side and having relaxed flights.

Yes you can catch the train in 2D from 2A. Should take you no more than 20 minutes (walking) to get there. The issue may be waiting for your luggage if you checked it, and of course if there is a delay in your inbound flight.

Do not fret it, enjoy your travels. Missed trains / planes can sometimes lead into better opportunities.

I'm not certain that what I have to share is correct, but I looked at the terminal maps, and I believe that you just have to walk fast in the direction of 2D. 2A goes to 2B and so on and so forth.

For anyone interested, it took me exactly 50 minutes to get from the arrival gate at 2G to the departure gate in Terminal 2E, port L, to get on a flight to Minneapolis. If you already know you leave terminal 2E, that's half the battle. You go through customs in 2E just before you get on a shuttle to get to port L gates. The customs line wasn't long (Monday), and I believe there was an Orange line for those in a rush.

You can walk in terminal 2 in about 10 - 15 minutes from 1 end to the other unless there is a mob of people. If you're a slow walker add some time, but it's not too far. There is an inter- terminal bus outside but I've never used it. For example, it takes me about 10 minutes to walk from 2A to the TGV station rolling a suitcase.

My son is flying back from France by himself in a few months. We are staying in Provence. I have already bought his ticket from CDG airport back to San Francisco, California. Now I need to buy a ticket from Marseille to CDG. His flight from CDGto SFO leaves at 12:15PM. The Air France flights from Marseille will arrive in CDG at 7:45AM or 8:40AM.
